Imagine a situation.
Your boyfriend describes a girl from his office saying she looks good, she wears great and so on. You say you don't like it and get offended. He replies he is just trying to have no secrets from you and after that tries to cheer you up. You're still the best, he assures you. But... why then he couldn't resist the urge to tell you about that girl you know nothing about?
The question is: what for did your boyfriend tell you about that fantastic girl? Was it just for fun or does he stop loving you?
Maybe, I think too much...

The situation is unpleasant and need to be thought over. In most cases men say such things in order to arouse jealousy. So, may be you don't have any reasons to worry.
